So, here is a short summary of the trip me and my gf took to Ireland!
I didn't have time to tell you about the fantastic experience I had during my two week trip to Ireland in June/July, because I was home for just 10 days before heading of to Greece for four weeks...now I'm back a week from that trip, and first thing first, here's how my trip in Ireland was (later I will tell about Greece too of course!)
So we went cycling in Ireland!
We took our second hand newly bought trekking bikes with the plane and put all our luggage on them and took off by train to western Ireland.

The cyclists:

There we cycled for 11 days and for about 600km through rain and wind and cold! Because cold, rainy and windy it was those two weeks! The good part was that most days the rain wold be showers and you would have breaks in between to dry up again. And of course we were prepared with waterproof (to some extent...) clothes and bags, so we stayed dry (except for some sweat

). The temperature not coming above 20 degrees Celsius and mostly stying around 15 was not much of a problem, since you keep yourself warm my cycling anyway.

The one thing that haunted us a lot though was the wind, which you always find more often against you than behind you...!
But, in the end the elements we had to face added to the experience and made the landscape rougher and more desolate ergo more beautiful! Sometimes we felt all alone with the landscape and the goats, with only a small line of asphalt reminding us of being close to civilization.

Luckily we could reach civilization though for some warming up amidst the locals after resisting the elements:
We visited little touristic "sights", being mainly their for the rugged landscape, but we did pay a visit to the beautiful remains of the monastery in Cong, Co. Mayo.
This trip was also a test to see if we would like this kind of active holiday and adventure, it was our first such trip, but I think we're both totally into it now

So, in the end I can recommend a trip like this to everyone, and I can't wait for next summer when we want to go cycling from Holland to Copenhagen and maybe even Stockholm!
Ow, and expect more photos to be coming from this trip!
