Hello all my dAfriends!

I haven't been checking or updating dA for a couple of months now.
I'm sorry for not replying to comments/notes/faves, but dA started to take too much of my studytime. I was also a bit disappointed in the low turn-up rate at the devmeet (apart from the hosts me and ~MCMITS only one showed up!) I held in Athens in October... Anyway, I might be checking every now and then for comments, but this will be very irregularly.
Those of you who want to stay in touch, you can add me on facebook (under my real name: Thomas Huisman), because it would be nice if we could meet outside dA and cyberspace! I enjoyed my time on dA though, and met some friends through it.

In the meantime my new website is under construction, so far it's only in Dutch with a small gallery, but it will be bigger and in English very soon.
Check it here!

thanks for reading!

Ireland + two features!! (edit)

So, here is a short summary of the trip me and my gf took to Ireland!

I didn't have time to tell you about the fantastic experience I had during my two week trip to Ireland in June/July, because I was home for just 10 days before heading of to Greece for four weeks...now I'm back a week from that trip, and first thing first, here's how my trip in Ireland was (later I will tell about Greece too of course!)

So we went cycling in Ireland!
We took our second hand newly bought trekking bikes with the plane and put all our luggage on them and took off by train to western Ireland.

our bikes
The cyclists:

There we cycled for 11 days and for about 600km through rain and wind and cold! Because cold, rainy and windy it was those two weeks! The good part was that most days the rain wold be showers and you would have breaks in between to dry up again. And of course we were prepared with waterproof (to some extent...) clothes and bags, so we stayed dry (except for some sweat :D). The temperature not coming above 20 degrees Celsius and mostly stying around 15 was not much of a problem, since you keep yourself warm my cycling anyway.

The one thing that haunted us a lot though was the wind, which you always find more often against you than behind you...!
But, in the end the elements we had to face added to the experience and made the landscape rougher and more desolate ergo more beautiful! Sometimes we felt all alone with the landscape and the goats, with only a small line of asphalt reminding us of being close to civilization.

Luckily we could reach civilization though for some warming up amidst the locals after resisting the elements:

We visited little touristic "sights", being mainly their for the rugged landscape, but we did pay a visit to the beautiful remains of the monastery in Cong, Co. Mayo.

This trip was also a test to see if we would like this kind of active holiday and adventure, it was our first such trip, but I think we're both totally into it now :boogie:
So, in the end I can recommend a trip like this to everyone, and I can't wait for next summer when we want to go cycling from Holland to Copenhagen and maybe even Stockholm!
Ow, and expect more photos to be coming from this trip!

edit 7-9-2007: Thanks (terima kasih!):iconuvikidd: for featuring in your journal!!! :boogie: I feel honoured!
edit 10-9-2007: Thanks (muchas gracias!) :iconadrenn: for featuring in your journal!!!! :boogie::dance: two features in a week!! whoohoo!

Hi everyone, the last devmeet was a disaster in the number of deviants actually showing up...it was me, ~MCMITS and his sister ~ElenaTria.
Luckily, we had both brought friends and mcmits brother had his nameday, so we had a great time still! the air was nice and cool on top of filopappou while the rest of Athens was sweating! and the view was beautiful! Pity for all of you who didn't come :mwahaha: :D
But, I think I was to blame for the lack of deviants showing up, since I wasn't really clear on where and when...so this time, I'm going to try better. here are the details:

Date of meeting: 20 August
Time of meeting: 19.00u (will wait at meeting point until 20.00u)
Place of meeting:Kapnikarea church on odos Ermou in the centre of Athens
what will we do?after meeting, probably we'll go to a nice bar or whatsoever to talk with eachother! maybe we'll pass a souvlatzidiko on the way =P

those are the details, please invite everyone you can and know and post the meeting details in your own journals!

Elpizw na dw all of you!

greetings from Kalymnos!
edit 7 aug: greetings from Ermoupoli!
edit 16 aug: greetings from Armenistis, Ikaria!
edit 20 aug: greetings from Athens!

EDIT IN TIME OF DEVMEET TONIGHT!!!

Hello everyone and especially those in Greece and Athens next week!
I'm arriving coming Tuesday at 16.30 at El. Venizelos Airport.
As the plans are now, I will spent one night at a friend's place in Chalandri and head off to Sparta on Wednesday to see a greek jazz pianist perform who is from sparta but studies at the Amsterdam Conservatory. If any of you feels like joining me on that trip, know that I would enjoy that very much!
Then...I'll make sure to be back on Friday for the devmeet:

THE DEVMEET ON 27 JULY IN ATHENS

everyone, you can text me on my mobile, +31 6 4302 0994 the plan is still to have a pic nic with music and stuff on filopappou. so can best meet on filopappou, how about at the Pnyx?

Hope to meet you all apopse!!!
end of edit

After checking the poll, it's probably best to have the devmeet start at Friday afternoon, 'round 17.30-18.00 maybe. It would be nice to have a pic nic at filopappou, so bring some food, or let's pass a good souvlatzidiko :D
Maybe for those who would like it we can head off the same evening or the next morning for a camping trip to Evvia, as proposed by ~MCMITS
Meeting point monastiraki station entrance? I'll make a DA sign =P
Any suggestions regarding the devmeet are welcome, for example a better time or meeting point :) Ow, and bring everyone you know, deviants or not!!!! The more people, the more fun! I'm really looking forward to meet you guys!!
my mail for easy contact (also regarding the concert in Sparta) is: thomasmifune@gmail.com

I'll post a journal with the last details this week, probably on tuesday evening.

devmeet in Athens next week!

Ok everyone, I'm arranging a devmeet with ~MCMITS in Athens next week and it's probably going to be on Friday (which is 27 July), but I have a poll here ([link]) out on which day you guys prefer.
We were thinking of a pic nic of some sort at filopappou hill under the acropolis.
With a pic nic, of course everyone has to bring some nice food and drinks, how about keftedakia, ntolmadakia, xoriatiki salata, tzatziki ktl...
Everyone who comes is of course free to bring their (boy- or girl-)friends, the more people, the more fun!
Needless to say everyone should takes his or her camera too and if you play an instrument, bring it!!
Nothing is really certain yet, the form is not rigid, I'm open for suggestions! Who knows maybe we turn it into a camping trip to Evvia for the weekend...

Hope to see you all soon!
